Families of Veterans Lost to Suicide Deserve Recognition

Every day, families are left behind without acknowledgment.
We are working to change that through the Green Star.

An Invisible Loss

Each year, thousands of Veterans are lost to suicide.
Behind every number is a family—grieving, carrying loss, and often overlooked.

While Gold Star families are nationally recognized, families of Veterans lost to suicide have no formal acknowledgment.
That needs to change.

Introducing the Green Star

The Green Star is a national effort to recognize families who have lost a Veteran to suicide.

It extends the American service banner tradition—ensuring these families are seen, honored, and never forgotten.

Advancing National Recognition

Green Star Families is working to establish federal recognition through legislation, including H.R. 6022. This effort brings visibility to families who have long been left out of the national conversation.

Real Families. Real Stories.

These are not statistics. These are mothers, spouses, children, and loved ones whose lives have been forever changed.
